Skyview Ranch

COMMUNITIES - Skyview Ranch is one of Calgary's newest residential communities. Located on the city's north-east edge, it provides direct access (via Metis Trail) to the new ring-road: Stoney Trail, and from there it's just minutes to Deerfoot Trail, Calgary International Airport, and CrossIron Mills.  Still in the development stage, Skyview Ranch offers a wide variety of housing and location choices. It features a small shopping plaza, Fire Station, and a new Calgary Catholic School Board school is planned to open in the fall of 2017.

Nolan Hill / Ron Nolan

COMMUNITIES - Nolan Hill is a new residential community in northwest Calgary which combines old world character and craftsmenship with modern, family-friendly design. Bounded to the west by Sarcee Trail NW and to the east by Shaganappi Trail, these major roadways provide direct access to Stoney Trail, the city's new ring-road. Situated on rolling hills, Nolan Hill offers great views and a variety of park space throughout. Nearby is the Beacon Hill Shopping Centre which includes Costco, Goodlife Fitness, Canadian Tire, and Shopper’s Drug Mart.

On a personal note, I was happy to learn that Nolan Hill was named to honour the memory of Ron Nolan, former CEO of UDI. I had the pleasure of knowing and working for Ron back in the early 80's, when I joined the staff of Contour Visuals, a small start-up which he had just got going which specialized in creating topographical models for architectural and engineering firms. The main project  I was involved with there was a large panoramic model of the Bow River Valley through Banff Park which featured the (then newly) proposed Wildlife Crossings under the Trans-Canada Highway. Ron was class guy and can't think of a more fitting way to honour his memory than to have a beautiful new community named after him.
